Think Patients Won’t Talk to AI? Here’s What the Real Data Shows.

Apple AI

Many optometrists calling RingIQ.ai raise the concern, will my patients be “put off” or reject an AI agent answering the phone?

It’s a good question, and we have experience to consider.

When Iris, the RingIQ.ai agent, answers the phone we see 86% of patients are happy to talk with an AI agent. Some didn’t even realize it was an AI agent. Iris, is fluent so the conversation is very normal. Iris’s voice is almost “real” but there’s a sense that it is artificial. What seems most important to callers is intelligent conversation. Iris knows when to ask questions and can confirm answers.

We also know that only 10% of patients will leave a voicemail message during the day. So, an intelligent AI agent, like Iris, is much preferred to voicemail.
About the other 14% that didn’t talk with Iris? 10% wanted to speak with the office and iris transferred the call during business hours and took a message after hours, nights, and weekends. That leaves 4% and they hung up on Iris. That beats the 90% that hung up on voicemail.

Support with Iris for the likely missed and after-hours calls contributed to a 10% lift in exams – every call counts.
